Another New Year in the life of a Cat Grooming blog!

Well, at least I'm consistent - one blog a year, got to be a record surely?! Another interesting (and difficult, at times) year. I've said goodbye to 3 more of my beloved cats, it doesnt get any easier, even when they've had good long lives. Fostering for Cats Action Trust (N&W Wilts) has kept me really busy, and although I have a purpose built foster cattery in the garden, inevitably I've still ended up fostering some cats in the house with me, due the sheer number of cats needing to come into rescue, and lack of space elsewhere. The Trust always has a waiting list and soon it will be kitten season and us fosterers will probably be squeezing kittens in - everywhere! I currrently have 3 foster cats, Perdy a 7yr old tortie, a 6yr old black girl called Shadow - and my long term foster, whose picture you see here, Chico - he's been with me nearly 2 years! Unfortunately he is FIV+ and 10 plus years old, so is always overlooked.
Grooming is always busy the first few months of the year - because the coats have been thickening up over the winter and you only need to take your eye of the ball for a week or so, and you end up with a matted moggie! Thats when I get the cry for help to sort out the mats, and the grooming room is a hive of activity, with buzzing clippers and fur flying! (in the shaving sense, that is!)
Cat sitting has also been busy, customers booking early holidays to escape the doldrums of January and February, March...... There have been some new cats for me to meet, which is always nice - I get quite a buzz out of winning round even the most timid of cats.
